From the outback to the beach, and the city to the mountains
While the cultural, shopping and sightseeing sites of Sydney are high on all itineraries, the surrounding regions also afford a glimpse of local life, albeit at a slower pace. The nearby Blue Mountains offer spectacular scenery with indigenous flora and fauna, while the Southern Highlands is a slice of the English countryside complete with antiques, quaint pubs and local crafts. Be sure to visit the Snowy Mountains on the Victorian border for seasonal snow and winter sports.

Outback New South Wales in the far west, which includes the mining towns of Lightning Ridge and Broken Hill, will have you marvelling at the wide, open spaces and arid land. And, no NSW holiday is complete without a trip to the Northern Rivers region, home to the beautiful town of Byron Bay – the most easterly point of Australia – and a wildly popular destination for travellers of all ages due to its laidback lifestyle and surf beaches.
