There's a lookout and shop at the Super Pit and if you work up a thirst just watching, you'll find a cold drink and a lot of old stories in one of the 25 historical pubs in the city still in operation. If you're interested in geology and mineralogy, be sure to visit the WA School of Mines Museum and excerpts from the Goldfields War Museum at the town hall.
You'll also find all the amenities of a major centre here but for a quirkier insight, trip 10 minutes out of town to Australia's only legalised Two Up School. Book a flight to Kalgoorlie for an out-of-the-ordinary getaway.
