Located south of Beijing's central, the Temple of Heaven was built in 1420 by the Ming Dynasty as a sacrifice to Heaven. The holy building is notably larger than the Forbidden City and is made up of three main constructions including the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and the Circular Mound Altar. The Temple of Heaven is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is surrounded by age-old trees including a famous Cyprus tree said to be over 500 years old.

The city's Summer Palace is another place of great history and greenery. The palace has the largest royal garden in China and is situated by the Kunming Lake in Beijing's northwest. While a popular tourist attractions, many locals retreat to the palace to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some time surrounded by nature. The peaceful landscape blends pavilions, palaces, bridges and halls with manicured gardens, open water and calming views in true traditional Chinese style.

During your visit to the Summer Palace wander through the beautiful gardens towards the lake and marvel at the spectacular Marble Boat, a two story boat built entirely of marble.
