Get down to business
As an alpha world city and Australia’s commercial hub, there’s no shortage of places to do business in Sydney. Most of the city’s business hotels are clustered around main thoroughfare George Street in the heart of the Central Business District, though there are plenty of high-quality hotels on the fringe of the city centre in Darling Harbour and Circular Quay as well.
Countless taxis are on hand to convey passengers to all corners of the city, however it can be just as efficient to hop on a City Circle train or ferry to get around town. All the major hotel chains are represented in the heart of the city – including Sofitel, Sheraton and Sebel – making Sydney an ideal destination for business travellers.
Sydney’s busy Kingsford Smith Airport is located in Mascot, around nine kilometres from the city centre. Many of the city’s major airport hotels lie just off Airport Drive, including hotels from the Holiday Inn and Hotel Ibis chains. Other nearby airport hotels include a well-appointed Mercure Hotel and the Airport Sydney International Inn Hotel.
It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the city centre on Sydney’s Airport Link train and given Sydney’s unpredictable inner-city traffic, it’s perhaps the most reliable means of travelling to and from the city – particularly on short stopover stays.
Experience the entertainment capital
Sydney might be renowned for the quality of its beaches, however there are plenty of other entertainment options on offer once the sun sets on the city's scenic coastline. The Star Sydney Casino and Hotel enjoys a prominent Pyrmont location, making it a mainstay of Sydney accommodation and one of the city's most popular entertainment venues.
Fox Studios Australia is located just a short distance from the city centre in Moore Park, and its Entertainment Quarter welcomes hundreds of visitors each day. Boasting the historic Hordern Pavilion and smaller Hi-Fi bar as popular music venues, the 'EQ' enjoys the added convenience of being located next to the bustling Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium precinct.
