Staying in Charlotte Pass
Cosy up at the Kosciusko Chalet Hotel
“The Pass” is a popular winter escape for snow-seekers in Australia. If you’re still getting your snow legs, opt for the Easy Starter. Intermediates will feel right at home on the Kosi Coaster, while the more adventurous might choose to tackle the Sidewinder and Guthrie’s Chutes.
After a day of shredding and carving the slopes, head to the historic heart of the Charlotte Pass Ski Resort, the Kosciusko Chalet Hotel. The grand 1930s lodging holds a special old world charm and is equipped with modern ski-in ski-out facilities. Choose from Classic Rooms serviced daily, Inter-connecting Rooms for a little more space or the Tower Suite for extra comfort.
A dozen lodges for post-ski lounging
Given it’s not as busy as other Blue Mountains retreats in peak season, Charlotte Pass New South Wales is a particularly favourite retreat for families looking to hit the slopes. In addition to the Charlotte Pass accommodation on offer at the Kosciusko Chalet, there are 12 lodges to bunk down for the night.
Take in the panoramic views of the whole valley from the Arlberg Ski Club, keep the kids entertained at the Jerrabomberra Lodge or warm up after an icy day in the Snowbird Lodge spa or sauna.
It’s all about the après ski atmosphere
Charlotte Pass is located in the heart of Kosciuszko National Park and is the closest village to Mount Kosciusko – mainland Australia’s highest peak. Once you’ve had your fill of skiing Charlotte Pass in winter, consider making a return trip during the warmer months to see The Pass in a different light.
Come summer, the National Park walking track and views from the Charlotte Pass lookout are unbeatable, while the post-glacial Lake Cootapatamba is a spot of scenic serenity. Back at the base there are bars, bistros and fine dining establishments with live music and kids’ activities to unwind after your outdoor pursuits.
