Learn about Aboriginal history at Tandanya

Around the corner from Mantra on Frome on Grenfell Street is the Tandanya Museum and Exhibition House. It features works of art from many Indigenous and Torres Strait Island artists, both recent and historical. Tandanya also showcases events and touring exhibitions throughout the year.

Visitors to Tandanya can also learn a lot about Aboriginal culture and heritage. During the week, members of the Indigenous community give presentations showcasing traditional greetings, songs and dances. Tandanya translates as 'red kangaroo place', and the museum is on a site that connects to the red kangaroo Dreaming story.

Visit the Botanic Gardens

Adelaide is a green city and the highlight of all its parklands is the Botanic Gardens. Once you eter from the east of the city through the ornate old gates, there's no entrance fee so feel free to make the most of the area with repeated visits during your stay. Make sure to see the Morton Bay fig trees – Adelaide boasts Australia’s oldest avenue of this kind of tree.

Be sure to pay a visit to the Bicentennial Conservatory, a building within the gardens that showcases some plant life native to northern Australia. Other glasshouses include the Palm House and the Amazon Waterlily Pavilion.
