While big city experiences are on offer in Chicago, the Illinois city is also home to natural beauty and a number of animals. You can see some of them for free at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Open 365 days a year, the zoo houses animals from all across the world including African lions, Amur leopards, tortoise, chimpanzees, gorillas, owls and flamingos. The zoo even has a farm onsite ideal for kids to visit.
In addition to farm animals, thanks to its aquatic location on Lake Michigan, Chicago is also home to a number of marine animals. For a closer glimpse head to the Shedd Aquarium which is home to 32,500 marine animals. Within the aquarium you can browse a number of exhibits showcasing polar animals, jellyfish and those from the Caribbean. Don't miss seeing some of the aquariums rare species including the Goliath bird-eating tarantula, green anaconda, zebra sharks and beluga whales.
