Attractions near the Beresford Arms

San Francisco’s breathtaking sights

Centrally located, the hotel provides an excellent base to discover San Francisco. You can start with a stroll to Union Square, a plaza dating back 150 years. Named after the pro-union rallies held during the Civil War, Union Square is known for premium shopping, boutique cafes, bars and restaurants. Theatre buffs might want to visit TIX for half-price tickets to the city’s best shows, while shoppers can get their fix at Saks, Christian Dior, Hermes, Bloomingdale’s and Barneys.

An additional 10-minute walk gets you to bustling Chinatown where you can find the largest Chinese community outside of Asia and the oldest Chinatown in North America. Established during the gold rush in 1848, this historic district offers more than 300 traditional restaurants, a diverse shopping experience, several museums and excellent cultural events throughout the year.

Riding the cable cars

The cable car network is a San Francisco icon and is the last manually operated system in the world. The cable cars were built in 1873 to navigate the city’s steep inclines that are too dangerous for horse-drawn carriages and still draw about seven million people annually.

Grab a seat inside and watch the charming streets pass you by, or experience a thrilling ride on the outside of the car by hanging onto the passenger poles. You can feel the wind in your hair as you climb and descend the steep slopes.
