Accommodation In Croatia
Coastal Croatia is the place to be
The coast of Croatia has three regions, each one offering an array of activities and beautiful sites. Narrowing down the highlights can be near impossible, but there are a few that simply can't be missed. Known for pristine beaches and verdant offshore islands, this long, narrow region also boasts the Plitvice Lakes, the historic walls of Dubrovnik and the incredible history of Diocletian's Palace.
Zadar is set smack in the middle and provides a great starting point when deciding whether to journey further north, south or both. Splashing out on a 5-star getaway with exquisite water views is certainly an option with the Falkensteiner Hotel and the Spa ladera. Alternatively, there are many smaller establishments that still pack a punch.
Zagreb's undiscovered charm
Tourism in Croatia normally focuses on the coast, but the country continues to deliver right through the central region. Zagreb is the capital city and a cultural hotspot with 19th-Century buildings that provide a glimpse into the country's history. Combine this with thriving arts, culinary and nightlife scenes and you're sure to be entertained.
Zagreb is bursting at the seams with hotels that display both modern style and traditional beauty. For the latter, you may want to consider a stay at the 5-star Esplanade Zagreb Hotel. Alternatively, the 4-star Hotel President Pantovack offers a sleek, modern approach. Of course, you can still find great deals with Best Western and Sheraton providing comfortable mid-range options.
The rural beauty of the Slavonia fields
Slavonia is home to seemingly endless farming fields, sunflowers and vineyards. In the north, the city of Osijek provides an interesting stopover where you can enjoy a zoo and the Promenada along the Drava River. Just north of the city is the Kopacki Rit National Park and, to the west, the Baroque Village of Varazdin.
This smaller rural city may be an escape from the hustle and bustle, but it still offers a decent selection of hotels. From 4-star varieties all the way to the modest, yet charming guesthouses, there is something for every budget. The Hotel Waldinger is ideally located at the heart of the city, while the Guesthouse Maksimilian offers excellent service and comfort.
